Handmade Blue Green Ceramic Bowl with Woven Reed Rim | Art Pottery
This is what happens when clay and basketry start talking to each other.
I hand build each bowl by hand in my Raleigh studio, then fire it to bring out the deep, starry blues and mossy greens in the glaze. Where the glaze ends, the weaving begins. The rim is finished with hand-stitched green reed, lashed with embroidery thread through holes I pierce before the first firing. It’s slow work, and I like it that way.
The result is a piece that lives between traditions: part pottery, part basket. The glossy midnight-blue interior pulls you in like a night sky. The matte forest-green exterior grounds it. And the woven reed adds a tactile, earthy line that asks to be touched.
This bowl isn’t meant to sit on a shelf untouched. Use it as a meditation bowl, a vessel for collected treasures, a one-of-a-kind salt cellar, or the center of your altar. Because it’s a true one-off, it makes a meaningful gift for art collectors, nature lovers, and anyone who values the handmade.
No two are alike. This one is yours.
